Did you ever experience the callousness of the employed? How they take customers and time for granted? Perhaps they are a nephew or a niece and will never walk the road that I and many others are currently walking. Today, I was waiting for a package of temperature sensitive medication. Without this medication, my chronic disease gets out of control and I feel very ill. I called UPS dispatch at 5 pm to get some idea when the UPS delivery man would arrive. She told me by 7 pm at the latest. My wife and I ran some errands and at 7 pm, still no UPS man. We went out, but before we did that, we asked a neighbor to sign for this package and put a very visible note for the UPS driver to deliver the package to # 107 instead of # 408. We get back, and the note is still there, with a ticket from the driver that he rang # 408...no answer. Remember, he had a large note telling him to drop off the package at # 107. This was not carelessness, but WANTON carelessness! I would bet anyone reading this blog today that he didn't even attempt to call # 107, as he was running behind. Of course, the customer suffers and this guy can hold a job, as incompetent as he is that pays $25 an hour with full benefits and overtime. He likely has done this to other customers and will do it to more in the future. He gets rewarded for bad behavior. Next time, I will instruct my medicine supplier to use Federal Express, Air Cargo, or Service by Air...anyone other than UPS. Perhaps if more fed up customers complained and just stopped doing business with companies that retain wantonly careless employees, that would send a message to them and hurt them on their bottom line. I am passionate about this, as I have been looking for work along with many of my friends, and most of us would appreciate $25 per hour plus benefits. The world as we know it just does not seem fair.
A church in Melrose Park just received 2 gold crowns for statues that they have in their place of worship. I am certain that they were expensive as they were imported from Italy. In these times when people are losing their jobs, getting their hours reduced, not receiving any increases in pay and are getting benefits taken away from them, a church which we expect to provide charity to the needy is paying big money to adorn statues. What's wrong with this picture? The pastor of this church needs to sell these crowns and use the proceeds to help needy families in the Melrose Park community, which is plagued by still factories, or resign because he is flagrantly, like the UPS man NOT doing his job or the work of Christ Jesus.
